  Dr. Wayne Ahern I received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University and have been in practice for 27 years. My wife, Shelley, and I have two children, Rachel(15) and Ethan(14). We enjoy boating, biking, and outdoor activities. My areas of interest in veterinary medicine include surgery and internal medicine. I believe in keeping current through continuing education, and go to several meetings and seminars throughout the year.  At Animal Kingdom, we strive to provide careful, conscientious diagnosis and treatment to our patients and their owners.

  I graduated from Veterinary School in Ecuador in 2000.  While going to Veterinary School, I also attended a 3 year course in homeopathy.  After moving to the United States, I spent 7 months at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the University of Tennessee.  I then received my full certification in the US and my Iowa Veterinary License.  In 2006 I learned Veterinary Acupuncture at the Chi Institute, and in 2007 I trained in Veterinary Chiropractic.  My areas of interest include Internal Medicine and Holistic Medicine.  I love working with pets and helping them stay happy and healthy. My husbnad Marc and I have a son Zach, who is 2 and we enjoy swimming, hiking, camping and barbecuing with friends.

  I attended kirkwood community college and graduated from the veterinary technician program in May of 2009.  I just started at Animal Kingdom the beginning of March 2009 and am excited to get started as a Veterinary Technician.  I have many pets including 1 horse named Odie, 1 dog named Titan, and two cats, Frankie and Chester.  I also enjoy doing anything outside including camping and canoe trips.

  My family and I moved back into the area 6 years ago after having lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  My husband,Tom and I have two daughters, Rachel and Maggie.  My family is owned by a German Shepherd Mix named Riley and two cats, Gracie and Butterscotch. Over the last 15 years, I have worked in a variety of positions at veterinary clinics in Minnesota, Oklahoma and Iowa. When I am not at work, I enjoy reading, gardening and shopping.

  I live in Mechanicsville, Iowa with my husband Andrew, son Brighton, our dogs Feebee and Joey, our cat Guinness and our bunny, Jerry.  As well as several fish.  I've been grooming since August of 2003. and have been at Animal Kingdom as an independent contractor  since 2004.  I have many hobbies including reading, knitting, crocheting, gourd art, and bike riding. I am also the keeper of the website - the High Mucky Muck if you will of Animal Kingdom Internet Interfacing.    Grooming by Marcy is available Tuesday thru Thursday and some Saturdays.

  I am currently a Veterinary Technician Student at Kirkwood. I am living in the Iowa City area, but am from Ankeny Iowa. I have two cats living with me now, named Izzy and Basil. In my spare time, I enjoy eating Mexican food, seeing any kind of movie, hanging out with friends, shopping, being outside, and watching sports. My favorite kinds of animals are tigers, cats, and gorillas. Someday down the road, I would like to be working with exotic mammals.
